Unigents
Unigent integrates course scheduling, GPA calculation, graduation progress tracking, attendance records, and campus social features. Supports iOS and Android with lock-screen live activity. Used by 150+ universities.
Summary
Unigent is a course management and campus community platform for university students, combining schedule planning, GPA calculation, graduation progress tracking, and attendance records. Built by a solo Korean developer, it now serves nearly 30,000 students across 150+ universities in Taiwan.
What is Unigent?
Unigent consolidates course schedules, grade management, and campus social networking into one platform. After manually creating a course schedule, the system auto-calculates GPA and graduation credit progress. Users can view daily courses via lock-screen Live Activity (iOS) or persistent notification (Android). Features include multi-semester schedule storage, friend schedule sharing, academic calendar integration, and per-class attendance tracking. The developer, a Korean student who studied at Soochow University, launched the Beta in February 2024 to solve the problem of coordinating free time with friends.
Core Capabilities
- Course creation & management — Manual input of course details (name, time, credits, room, instructor); multi-semester storage and switching
- GPA & graduation credit calculation — Auto-converts grades to GPA (e.g., 93 → A+ / 4.3); calculates progress by category (major required, general education, electives)
- Academic calendar integration — Midterm weeks, drop deadlines, makeup holidays displayed in calendar; three view modes (courses only, courses + calendar, calendar only)
- Lock-screen display — iOS Live Activity and Android persistent notification show today's courses without opening the app
- Attendance tracking — Set semester start date and week count; system auto-generates class dates; supports five statuses (present, late, absent, leave, canceled)
- Friends & sharing — Add friends to view their schedules; share links valid for 24 hours
- Campus community — School-specific boards and cross-campus plaza; requires school email verification
Pros
- High integration — Combines schedule, GPA, graduation progress, attendance, and social features in one platform
- Lock-screen visibility — Both iOS and Android support viewing today's courses without opening the app
- Auto graduation progress — Calculates credits by category and shows remaining credits needed
- Calendar sync — School administrative dates (exam weeks, holidays, deadlines) auto-integrate into personal calendar
- Multi-semester storage — All past schedules saved for review and GPA calculation
Positioning & best fit
Unigent suits university students who need centralized academic and campus life management, especially those tracking graduation progress or coordinating schedules with peers.
- Freshmen — Build first schedule, learn academic calendar, manage attendance
- Sophomores to seniors — Track GPA trends, calculate credit gaps, manage multi-semester schedules
- Club officers or group project members — View friends' schedules to coordinate (manual comparison required; no auto-overlay yet)
- Students at 150+ universities — Covers public, private, technical universities, and colleges; some Hong Kong institutions included
Current limitations: Manual schedule input (no one-click import from school systems); course categories require manual setup; friend schedules viewable individually (no multi-person auto-overlay); week count applies to entire schedule (no per-course adjustment); Android updates slightly lag iOS.
